The second round of the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series playoffs ended Sunday at Kansas Speedway. Playoff points leader Martin Truex Jr. overcame a restart violation and a loose wheel to win the Hollywood Casino 400 from the pole.

Truex is the first driver to sweep the track in the same season; he won at Kansas in May after leading 104 laps. Truex also set the Cup Series record for most wins on a 1.5-mile track in a season with six, and he has seven victories overall in 2017.

Playoff drivers Matt Kenseth, Jamie McMurray, Kyle Larson and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. were eliminated in the Round of 12. Kenseth was sent to the garage for having seven crew members working to repair damage on his car after he was caught in a wreck caused by Erik Jones. McMurray's day was done after his car sustained damage from the same crash. Larson's playoff hopes ended when engine problems forced him out during Stage 1. Stenhouse wrecked and finished 29th.

Kyle Busch won Stage 1 and Denny Hamlin won Stage 2.

Truex and Kyle Busch had already secured a spot in the Round of 8 after their wins at the Alabama 500 and Bank of America 500, respectively. Brad Keselowski, Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick, Hamlin, Ryan Blaney and Chase Elliott will be joining them in the next round. Johnson spun his car around twice, but managed to hang on to advance.
