The biggest night in professional sports is about to get underway.

The 2018 ESPY Awards will soon take place, once again honoring many of the world’s top athletes and athletic achievements over the past year.

What are the ESPYS?

The ESPYS are an awards ceremony introduced in 1993 to honor individual and team athletic accomplishments.

Originally presented by ESPN from 1993 to 2014 and later by ABC from 2015 to present, the award winners are chosen by the votes of fans, professional sportswriters, journalists, ESPN personalities, sports executives and athletes.

The ceremony was originally held in New York City from 1993 to 1999 before moving to Las Vegas from 2000 to 2001. They’ve been held in Los Angeles from 2002 onward, with notable hosts over the years including Samuel L. Jackson, Peyton Manning, Drake and John Cena among others.

When are the ESPYS 2018?

The 2018 ESPYS will soon take place on Wednesday, July 18.

The 2018 ESPYS will be held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California.

How to watch the ESPYS 2018

Those interested can view the ceremony live on ABC from 8pm EST to 11pm EST.

Who will be hosting the ESPYS 2018?

Danica Patrick is slated to host the 2018 ESPYS.

It will be the first time the former NASCAR and IndyCar driver has hosted the event and one of her first high-profile appearances since retiring in late May.

Who will be attending the ESPYS 2018?

A number of celebrity presenters will be appearing at the awards ceremony, including Chadwick Boseman, John Elway, Jim Gaffigan, Jennifer Garner, Dan Marino and others.

In addition, many notable professional athletes will also be attending the ceremony, including Draymond Green, Von Miller, Antonio Brown, Todd Gurley, Jay Ajayi, Chloe Kim, members of the 2018 U.S. Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey team and many others.

Who will be performing at the ESPYS 2018?

Pop singer MILCK and R&B/pop singer Jorja Smith are both slated to perform at the event. In addition, the hip-hop band Crown and the M.O.B. will once again make an appearance as the award ceremony’s house band.

Notably, a number of important accolades have already been awarded ahead of the ceremony.

Scott Beigel, Chris Hixon and Aaron Feis, three coaches who died in the Marjory Stoneman Douglass High School shooting in Parkland, Florida will all be posthumously honored with the Best Coach Award for their selfless and heroic actions during the tragedy.

Former quarterback Jim Kelly will receive the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance for his battle with oral cancer while the victims of former USA Gymnastics national team doctor Larry Nassar will all receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award for coming forward publicly, ultimately leading to Nassar’s imprisonment on criminal charges.
