Brian Shaw’s run as the Nuggets’ head coach ended on a whimper when he lost 17 of his final 19 games before being fired, finishing with a record of 56-85 in less than two seasons in Denver.
Bryan Shaw’s tenure with the Colorado Rockies has been rough in his first year, to say the least. Before going on the disabled list on Sunday, he has a 7.57 ERA and “he’s already tied his career high by giving up eight home runs,” Patrick Saunders writes.
But there’s one local Brian Shaw who’s been magnificent for Colorado sports. The 36-year-old Fort Lupton native is 6-foot-8 and weighs more than 400 pounds — and used every bit of it to claim four World’s Strongest Man titles, three Arnold Strongman Classic championships and tons of other accolades for heavy lifters.
“I’ve always been able to do this,” he told The Denver Post in a 2009 interview. “The biggest tire, the heaviest stone … I’ve always been able to walk up and lift it. Odd strength is what it is, not weight-room strength. It’s brute strength, brute power.”
And coming in at more than 9,000 calories a day, his diet is ridiculous. “I’m just eating to be the strongest human being on the planet,” he says in a YouTube video documenting his daily eating routine.
This Brian Shaw is more than carrying the load his namesakes have struggled to do.
